Situated between the magnificent Outeniqua Mountains and unspoiled beaches of the Indian ocean, in the heart of the Garden Route, lies the 3500 ha Botlierskop Private Game Reserve in the Western Cape ensuring its visitors of a unique South African Safari experience. Our Safari Park is only a 4.5-hour scenic drive from Cape Town, the Mother City of South Africa, between Mossel Bay and George. This malaria free, family owned and privately operated garden route game lodge is home to an abundance of animals including 4 of the Big 5, lions, elephants, buffalo’s, giraffes, rhino’s, hippos, rare black impalas and more as well as a unique bird life.
Botlierskop Private Game Reserves’ Tented Accommodation is situated close to the Moordkuil River in the Garden Route. 
Each tented suite has been carefully incorporated into the surrounding Western Cape bushveld while a canopy of African trees provide vital shade. The 21 suites are equipped with a mini bar, telephone, safe, coffee & tea making facilities, electrical blanket, heater/air-con, guest amenities, bath robe, slippers and have their own private deck. Raised wooden walkways connect each of the tents to the main Lodge with its spacious lounge and open plan Fireplace Restaurant that leads onto an outside open wooden deck. Please note children ages 6 and older are welcome.
The Manor House is within walking distance from the Main Lodge and situated between the Luxury Tented Suites. It offers 7 en-suite rooms, some with showers; and some with baths and showers. The Manor House has it’s own pool and Guests can make use of the Lodge Facilities, including the Fireplace Restaurant. Children 6 and older welcome.

Horseback Safaris
Enjoy an exciting horseback safari and escape to the majestic mountain valleys and beautiful fynbos for a 1, 2 or 3 hour horse ride and experience nature like never before. Experience our diverse plant life including woodlands, coastal and mountain fynbos and spot free roaming wildlife (Cannot be guaranteed). All experience levels welcome (child 6+).
Horseback Outrides
The outrides are adventures and are rarely on marked roads but through thick bushes and over mountainous terrain at working speed which makes this ride ideal for game viewing on horseback. Guests can see Rhino, Giraffe, Zebra, Elephants, Buffalo and so much more. The Horseback Out-rides are 3.5 hours and are available for experienced riders only
Guided Bush Trails
Experience and enjoy the Garden Route’s abundant fauna and flora on foot. Follow a Botlierskop field ranger as he tracks for 2 ½ hours through diverse habitats such as coastal renosterveldt and Cape fynbos. Chance to see wild animals while exploring the wonders of insects, ecology, birds (Knysna Touraco, African Fish-eagle, Jackal Buzzard and more) and the medicinal values of the plants.
Walk With African Lions
A once in a life time experience… Walk alongside Africa’s most majestic preditor.
The lion walks take approximately one hour to complete – depending on how fast the lions are prepared to amble – and a maximum of eight guests can be hosted on each excursion.

ON SITE ACTIVITIES FOR ACCOMMODATION GUESTS
Fishing
Try your hand at fishing with an experienced guide or ask your guide to arrange a fishing rod and tackle. Fish species you are likely to catch are Blue Carp, Largemouth Bass and Fresh Water Eels. A fishing rod fee of R80.00 will be charged as well as a R50.00 deposit which will be refunded if all equipment is safely returned.
Tennis
The Botlierskop Tennis court is located below the koppie of the Botlierskop Main Lodge and is ideal if your idea of relaxation is getting some fresh air outdoors and exercise. Guests can rent out the tennis court for an hour or more, day or night. We will supply tennis rackets and balls. Available from 09:00am till 17:00pm daily.
Canoeing
Why not pack a picnic (Provided by Botlierskop) and head down to the Moordkuil River Dam and enjoy a paddle up the 1 km Moodkuil river, passing the tented suites. Enjoy views of the mountains while spotting some bird life and if you’re lucky, animals roaming the banks. Life jackets are provided and children are welcome.
KIDS ACTIVITIES FOR ACCOMMODATION GUESTS
All activities above are suitable for children 6 and older except for the catwalk. Children need to be 1.5 meters and taller to take part in this activity. Kids can take part in Horseback Safari’s and Guided Game drives. The Fishing excursion, Junior ranger program and Kids Spa Treatments is ideal for your kids.
Guided Fishing Excursion
Your Botlierskop Ranger will take the kids for fishing (catch and release) while you can relax in your room or at the Botlierskop Lodge.
Spa Kids
African Face Painting options and kids short massage treatments like the giraffe back, neck, and shoulder massage.
Junior Ranger Program
A Ranger will take the children on a walk to identify animal foot prints, fauna and flora. A certificate will be given once complete.
