Nestled gracefully within a sprawling park-like garden overlooking the scenic Knysna Lagoon and the iconic Knysna Heads, Parkes Manor is lovingly known as the “Grande Dame” of guest houses in the area. Originally built in 1929 as a family home, this heritage mansion was thoughtfully restored in 2013 to combine timeless elegance with modern comforts. It hosts just nine individually-decorated, spacious suites—three offering serene lagoon views and six positioned for greater tranquility—each featuring patios or balconies ideal for soaking in the natural surroundings.

Dining here is an indulgent affair. The Glenshiel at Parkes Restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine infused with South African flavors, set against the backdrop of the lagoon. Guests can also unwind in the elegant Polo Bar, enjoy a sweet retreat in the Tea Garden, or host intimate celebrations in charming garden pavilions or indoor lounges. Whether you’re lounging by the pool, strolling through manicured gardens, or relaxing by a roaring fireplace, Parkes Manor delivers an unforgettable escape rooted in heritage, elegance, and restorative hospitality.
